10 Churches

What started out was a harmless idea of having to spend some quality time to one of my two closest friends in high school. Let’s dub in to the name of Kay and Rhea! Haha two beings who are opposites from each other but the differences made them a bond stronger than the bamboo shoots. No kidding and I was the middle weight girl who had short hair, chubby cheeks and a smile like a mouse!

Churches are of the things I like to visit; the art of every Christian people being carved unto these structural wonders. It’s quite fascinating for people in devoting their time of beautifying the sanctuary of holiness.

Ten churches were the target with 5:30 am in the morning the start off time. Too bad for me I have to wake up so early and head off with the meeting place.

Simala Sanctuary and St. Therese of the Child Jesus

Hold that thought; apparently I woke up around 4:30 in the morning, still in doubt if going with them was a good idea. I was still battling myself with sleepiness plus the soothe fabric made my nerves surrender. Thank God for a sms that made my decision to go with them and ditch review for the day. Pretty neat decision indeed...

Forget the target time; I usually make my own time. Even though the meeting place was a walking distance for me, I managed to spend some time to eat, find a decent shirt and drink my hot milo. Yes I was late! Precious the time may get but being late somehow runs in the family, except for my mother of course.

So below is the list of the ten churches we visited in order:

1. Simala Parish Church – Sibonga, Cebu
2. Basilica de Santo Nino- Osmena Boulevard, Cebu City
3. Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral- Mabini Street, Cebu City
4. Sto. Rosario Parish – P. Del Rosario Street, Cebu City
5. Sacred Heart of Jesus- D. Jakosalem Street, Cebu City
6. Archdiocesan Shrine of Blessed Pedro Calungsod- Archbishop's residence compound, Cebu City
7. Asilo de la Milagrosa- Gorordo, Avenue, Cebu City
8. St. Therese of the Child Jesus- Pasteur cor. Edison Sts., Lahug
9. Carmelite Montesory- Juan Luna Avenue, Cebu City
10. St. Joseph Patriach Paarish- Mabolo, Cebu City

Ironically some churches close their doors during free time of the day, example was the Redemptorist Church near the St. Therese College. No idea why they are close during noon time but it’s suppose to be open to the public right? Mostly it’s been a year since I came back visiting them again like in Simala, Carmelite and Shrine of Perdo Calungsod. My mother mentioned before about making a wish whenever you visit a church for the first time. First time I visited the St. Therese and Asilo churches, so I was able to make 2 wishes. I hope and pray so much for it to be granted! ^_^

Anyway we still manage to squeeze our time to visit the vicinities. Nothing kept us from getting our way, even if we didn’t have our own car and trusted the public vehicles to take us to our destinations. The weather was on our side too during the morning but it kinda poured down when we visited Carmelites. Going to and back from Simala was the awesome part. I never did get to chance to thank Mary after the NLE last year so I was doing a thanking with helping kind of petition.

I was tired totally with my legs shouting to stop since Kay preferred to walk most of the time. Walking is fine but when it’s under the scourging sun, that’s different. You’re literally giving yourself to the radiation of the sun. Mr. Sun who likes to barbecue everyone!

Sacred Heart of Jesus and Shrine of Pedro Calungsod

Started at 6:30 am and ended at 4:30 pm, not bad. And to think I was having second thoughts of not going to visit all ten in one day, booo for me before acting. That’s what you call a lazy bum!

Church Visits

waaaah ok let me get this straight!

what on the world happen to my dashboard?! all the blogs that i've been following are missing!! waaaaah

damn it! waaaha how am i suppose to be like updated with my friends tsk tsk oh well i guess i have to start from scratch T_T

1 minute later...

yey! found them.... wahahhaha stupid net browser... i had to refresh the whole site like 5 times and clicking on the manage button hahahaha anyways at least all are back to normal

the weekend is almost here and i'm stuck here broke! hahahai and i have another debt to follow up to... stupid gym instuctor hahahai at least he gave me some discount on paying him.. but why he didn't tell me sooner now i have another deadline... this is goin to be like hell for sure!!!

experiencing some major muscle pains on my stomach! waaaah its like everytime i see someone running, the horror of pain flashes right back T_T... for 4 days in a row all i did was go to the gym and run as long as i can hold my breath plus doing some crunches, sit ups and other flattening whatsoever. i've been doing this now and later around 3pm i'll be off again to start the "intense" program... waaah how horrible would it be then... good luck to me

i and a friend of mine visited some museums here in cebu, like one in the Sto Niño de Basilica and near the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, both of them had entrance fee of course but the one in the cathedral has a bigger amount unless you're a student hahahha...

i have no camera on hand only my phone which has limited memory on it. i have no pics on the basilica since no picture taken are allowed and the one in the cathedral, my battery drained..talk about bad luck...

the basilica had more displays and more history to share it... pictures of the real image of the child infant was there... actually it was quite small, smaller than the one publicly shown at the church.. this statue was smaller, more old looking and had older types of dresses range from the 17th century... hahaha so that was like when Magellan landed here i guess..

Sto Niño de Basilica

Museum Entrance

the cathedral has its own history as well including the floor changes, the different churches in cebu and the old antiques which were used by the priests before... there was even a picture of an old altar where an image of Jesus can be seen... was scary though really scary since the museum had an old spanish style to it and the freaky chandeliers which gave this eary sound everytime the wind blows... ahhhh and there was a bed too, an old one in one corridor of the museum. the keeper said it was a death bed of one of the priests living in the convent before.... yep it was fun, freaky and amazing on how the old stuff still exist... it is a museum what else could it be? hahaha

as for me i wish i had a car so that still i could so called "tour" more places to see, food to eat and the experience that kicks ass! hahaha
speaking of food, waaah i'm really craving for chocolates right now, the bigger the better! ^^
